Our team occasionally goes down to the LaSalle Middle School and helps the FLL team with their programming and design. We showed them our challenge for this season, and then we gave them a demonstration of our robot. We answer all of their question about what robotics is like in high school. They showed us what their challenge this season is and their plan for the competition. We help them come up with a more efficient way to earn the most points possible, give them ideas on how to build their robot, and help them with how to program the robot.
Webster Pre-School
On December 2, a few members of our team headed down to a local preschool and did a small presentation about our robot. As the Facebook photo shows, the kids were interested in it and the administrators were glad that we came. They even sent us a thank you card and their robot designs. Just showing the world of engineering to the next generation of engineers.
Better Living Expo
The better living expo was an event held at the Doubletree hotel in Chesterfield, MO. Katie, Dave and his father, Dylan, Mr. Spellmeyer, and I all attended this event. The Better Living Expo was for businesses looking for publicity, but we took the Meson team and set up a table there. People would walk by and ask us questions about our robot and the robotics program. Some people we met knew a lot about what we were doing, and some people knew nothing at all about FIRST. We met a couple companies who wanted to get involved and maybe sponsor us. We gave a presentation of the robot at 2:00, and it went great. We were able to pick up the block and maneuver around the room with ease. We got pictures with the Fox Talk Radio Station, Rockwood School District, A guy wearing an Elmo costume, and even the St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders!
